What About Mammoth?
Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort is one of California’s premier ski destinations and among the largest and most snow-sure resorts in the United States.
- Location: Mammoth Lakes, Eastern Sierra Nevada, California, USA (in the Inyo National Forest)
- Skiable Terrain: ~3,500 acres (1,400 ha) of skiable terrain with a vertical drop of ~3,100 ft (945 m)
- Elevation: Base ~7,953 ft; Summit ~11,053 ft (highest chairlift-served terrain in California)
- Trails: ~178–180 named trails catering to all levels from beginner to expert
- Lifts: ~24–25 lifts, including gondolas, high-speed chairs, and quads
- Snowfall: Average annual snowfall around 350-400 inches (890-1,016 cm), often allowing skiing from November into late spring — sometimes into summer months depending on conditions.

Mammoth Mountain is known for:
- Extensive terrain: runs suited for young or first-time skiers as well as advanced riders.
- Terrain parks: Unbound Terrain Parks with jumps, rails, and multiple halfpipes.
- Long season: thanks to high elevation and heavy snowpack, lift operations often extend from early November through May or June, and summer skiing is not uncommon in good snow years.
On-Mountain & Village Amenities
- Main Lodge & Base Lodges: Gondola access, dining, retail, ski rentals, and ski-in/ski-out lodging.
- Snow & Conditions Info: Live mountain reports, webcams, trail maps, and real-time snow conditions are available via the resort’s official site.
The resort lies near Mammoth Lakes, CA, and serves visitors from Southern California and beyond; it’s often reached by car via U.S.-395 and is within driving distance from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other major regions
